Programme Coordinator for Realising Just Cities

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to coordinate the Realising Just Cities programme of work and the design, delivery and evaluation of co-production projects across two city-regions in the North of England. As Coordinator, based at the University of Sheffield, you will also undertake reflexive analysis of the model of the Local Interaction Platform as a mode of organising knowledge for urban transformations with the programme leads.

Mistra Urban Futures is a centre for sustainable cities with headquarters in Sweden which aims to support the development of cities that are fair, green and accessible through local co-production partnerships called Local Interaction Platforms and international comparative research (http://www.mistraurbanfutures.org/en). A collaboration framework, Realising Just Cities, provides a shared orientation under which local hosts and partners across different sectors can develop transformative activities for sustainable urbanisation.  The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield is hosting the UK’s participation in Mistra Urban Futures, led by the Urban Institute with the Sheffield Methods Institute.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant social science discipline and have a proven track record in high quality urban studies work with social and policy relevance. They will be committed to the values which underpin the programme of work, to inter- and transdisciplinary work and to transformative research with, in and for urban stakeholders. A reflexive practice and commitment to shared learning and knowledge exchange is a prerequisite for the job. The candidate will be expected to travel and potentially undertake research within partner cities in Cape Town, Kisumu, Gothenburg and Malmo.
