Trade Union Pathways to Low Carbon Transitions in Yorkshire and Humber
This PhD will explore the pathways and barriers for trade union participation in effecting just transition to low carbon emissions in energy-intensive industries in the Yorkshire and Humber region. It will use an Action Research approach, grounded in existing relationships with key trade unions, and will contribute to interdisciplinary knowledge within the field of the Realising Just Cities programme.
Jenny’s PhD proposal aims to engage trade unions around climate change. Making connections through the fringe programme around COP21 in Paris led to conversations with trade unions in energy-intensive industries, such as steel, glass and cement, that underpin the cities of Leeds, Hull and Sheffield. Jenny will look to develop knowledge that can help trade unions play their full role towards an energy transition that brings both sustainability and justice.Contact me
