New organisation: Centre for Sustainable Urban Futures

The Centre for Sustainable Urban Futures is a research and knowledge centre working for achieving sustainable urban futures and creating accessible, green and fair cities.

The Centre for Sustainable Urban Futures is a transformation of Mistra Urban Futures that focused on transdisciplinary knowledge production  between 2010-2019. The aim of the new centre, starting January 1, 2020, is to continue being an arena for co-production of knowledge and research between practitioners and researchers.

Behind the new centre in Gothenburg is a strong partnership of eight partners: The Gothenburg Region, The County Administration Board of Västra Götaland, Västra Götaland region, The City of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, University of Gothenburg, IVL Swedish Environmental Resarch Institute and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

Mistra Urban Futures continues as two different organisations. Parts of the international organisation will be integrated in a new organisation named Global Sustainable Futures (GSF). GSF will have its focus on sustainable development in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The two organisations will be integrated parts of the Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV).
