Welcome to the 56th IFHP World Congress Gothenburg 2012

On September 16-19, 2012 the City of Gothenburg will host the 56th IFHP World Congress in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Congress, which will bring together hundreds of delegates from all around the world, aims to develop an understanding of different levels of urban development from several perspectives: the immediate environment, the city as a totality and cities on a global level. The main focus will be on social sustainability and the overall theme will be The Inclusive City in a Global World.

Keynote speaker, study visit and session

Mistra Urban Futures is one of the partners in the conference and will contribute with among other things a key note speech by Lars Reuterswärd, Director Mistra Urban Futures. Lars will talk about what political visions and ambitions are needed to meet future challenges. On the 17th and 18th of September Mistra Urban Futures will arrange two study visits. New methods, forums and collaboration for the cities of the future will be discussed. In conjunction with the study visit three abstracts from researchers around the world will be presented.  Mistra Urban Futures project Cities as value networks offers an extra session to the conference program the 19th of September. The project, which is in its start-up phase, will present preliminary results of a first case, alongside presentations of four international researchers in the wider field of urban transformation.
