Colin Fudge

Professor Colin Fudge is President of RMIT Europe and Vice President of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He has worked in Universities and in Government in the UK, Sweden and Australia as well as in the European Commission.

Previously Colin was Chair of the European Union Expert Group on the Urban Environment; Senior Adviser on Framework V for DG Research, European Commission and Founding Director of the WHO Collaborative Research Centre on Healthy Cities and Urban Policy. He has also been Chair of the European Sustainable Cities and Towns Campaign and Chair of the OECD International Urban Indicators Panel.

Colin is a Visiting Professor at the European University Institute, Italy, Tokyo University as well as Chalmers University and Royal Institute of Technology, both in Sweden.

He is also Deputy Secretary Ministry for Planning and Environment, Australia; Member of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in England and Patron of the UK Urban Design Group.

Colin has contributed through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research on public policy formulation and implementation; cities, sustainable development and adaptation to climate change; public health; demographic change and urban design.

This has been recognised through the awarding of the King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden, Royal Professorship of Environmental Science, an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects and an Honorary Doctorate from Bristol for his work on urban futures and public policy.
