Urban Challenges and Trends

As the world's toughest sailing race, Volvo Ocean Race, draws to a close, Gothenburg City invites you to share the innovative thoughts of world-leading organizations, such as NASA and Ericsson, on the efficient use of natural resources and sustainablle urban development.

Urban Challenges and Trends is the title of a seminar taking place Wednesday 23 June, moderated by Mistra Urban Futures Director, Prof David Simon. Keynote speakers:

- Doris Herrera-Pol, director and global head of capital markets at the World Bank, on FInancing Sustainable Cities

- Jesper Brodin, managing director IKEA of Sweden, on Compact Living, Self-Sufficiency

- Larry Toups, Chalmers/NASA & HSB Living Lab, on Trends for Future Living

Mehmet Kaplan, Minister Housing and Urban Development, Swedish Government, and Anneli Hulthén, Mayor, City of Gothenburg, open the seminar and will also take part in a panel discussion with Mokena Makaka, architect and urban planner in Cape Town, and Jordi Tolrà i Mabilon, policy advisor in Barcelona.
